Junior Church at Almondbury
Children usually stay in church for the beginning of the service
(approx fifteen to twenty minutes). During this time they participate in the
singing of two hymns, the preacher/minister will give a short children’s address
and then prayers are said before the children leave the service for their own activities.
Junior Church caters for children of primary school age. The sessions usually
follow a theme that will include a story from the Bible, colouring sheets, word searches and on
many occasions includes a craft activity. Our main aim is that through a variety of activities
the children learn more about the Christian faith, the love of God and enjoy
fellowship and friendship with each other.
One service a month is ‘All Age Worship’ which is suitable for children and adults –
the children stay in Church for the full service.
Junior Church participate in Communion Services by rejoining the congregation just before
sacrament is taken.
There are currently four leaders of Junior Church, who are all CRB checked, and who
take it in turn to prepare material for the Junior Church sessions, using the ‘Roots Magazine’ as a resource.
