'Be Creative' - Arts workshops for the
community
On Saturday 26th September 2009, 10.00am to 3.00pm, Almondury Methodist
Church and The Wesley Centre were host to the 'Be Creative' weekend.
The 'Be Creative' workshops were part of our Harvest Celebration
weekend. Many people came along from the local community and enjoyed
the day. Each person had booked to attend either an art class, photography
class, or pottery class. Each class was run by experts who were
on hand to show how its done and give top tips.
Art Class with local Artist Betty Thornton
Set in the beautiful and well lit surroundings of the Church, the class created paintings from a range of still life subjects
or using a photograph of their own special scene. Betty has years
of experience in working with all age groups and all abilities.
Photography Class with Jonathan Turner
The class learnt about lighting, composition and the different settings
to create different effects, using their own cameras. The weather
was good and our photographers ventured outdoors to take some special
shots. It was a must for anyone looking to improve their photographic
skills.
Pottery Class with David Helm of Thorpe End Pottery
Working with clay, the class produced their own personal piece of
pottery, which will be fired and glazed. Some of the items were
available for exhibiting at our Harvest Weeekend on the 3rd and
4th October.
